Sony Animation’s big new Spider-Man movie is hitting theaters soon and will be available on Netflix (in the US, at least) later this year. For a prediction on when and a little more about the new film, here’s what you need to know.
It takes place years after the events of the first film (released in 2018). Across the spider verse, sees the return of Miles Morales, who joins forces with Gwen Stacy on a mission to save every Spider-People universe from the growing menace of the Spot. We’ll see a new roster of Spider-Men and Women (and other assortments) from across the multiverse.
The film also features a blockbuster cast that includes talented singers Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Vélez, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae and Oscar Isaac.

If you live in the US, you might remember that the first movie appeared in the first window on Netflix last time. That was because Netflix had secured a first-window deal for all of Sony’s animation production during this period. The film was available for 18 months, between June 2019 and December 2020.
Some regions of Netflix are streaming the first movie ahead of the addition and coming to theaters, including Canada, Israel, India and others Select some European countries.
When will Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Release on Netflix in the US?
As we covered in 2021, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will move to Netflix as the service receives both animation and live-action content from Sony via an initial window deal in April 2021.
The contract stipulates that all Sony theatrical films will come to Netflix in the first window, i.e. at least 120 days after theatrical release. If it arrives exactly 120 days later, it will start streaming September 30, 2023.
However, given the size of this film, it may be hitting theaters a few weeks later. In any case, we assume that the film will be available between the end of September and November 2023.
Will other regions stream from Netflix? Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse?
Yes, but unlike the United States it will vary by region and there are no published roadmaps at this time.
Animated films from Sony typically arrive on Netflix worldwide in the years following their theatrical release. Some regions like Canada and the UK have to wait between two and three years for movies to hit theaters, while others have to wait longer.
In any case, apart from the USA, only Netflix India should receive the film, everyone else will have to wait a few more years.
