Quentin Tarantino 2009’s masterpiece Inglourious Basterds turned the Nazi narrative on its head and paved the way for a group of Jewish avengers to exact revenge on Hitler and take out the SS in blood-splattering and breakneck fashion.

“Soon, Heinrich and Elsa are unwittingly drawn into this action-packed hunt for the gold, culminating in a bloody showdown at the village church.”
In a press release, director Peter Thorwarth and producer Christian Becker, who worked together on the Netflix horror hit Blood Red Sky, said they had “American action-adventure classics from the ’60s and ’70s in mind” when making their film. .
They think of Inglourious Basterds as a kind of “breakwater” when it comes to telling a war story in an unconventional way. “It wasn’t done by a German, but it opened up avenues for us,” explained Thorwarth. “Without them, our film probably wouldn’t have been possible.”
