Virgin River has received an early renewal for its sixth season on Netflix, the streamer announced Wednesday during its Upfront virtual presentation.
The news of the upcoming sixth installment of the drama comes ahead of the premiere of season five, which is slated to premiere in the fall. No specific details are known about the Season 5 release date.
The romantic drama follows Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse who moves to Northern California after responding to a midwifery job in the remote town of Virgin River. Based on the book series of the same name, Mel hopes starting over will give her a chance to put painful memories of the past behind her.

In addition to Breckenridge, the cast is completed by Martin Henderson, Tim Matheson, Annette O’Toole, Colin Lawrence, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Lauren Hammersley, Grayson Gurnsey, Sarah Dugdale, Zibby Allen and Marco Grazzini.
The series, first launched in 2019, was renewed for seasons 4 and 5 in July 2021, which the streamer notes on season 3 “leaved fans with even more questions about the residents of this small town after a funeral, a fire, a divorce, a hurricane and a new romance.” .”

After start of production Virgin River reportedly wrapped filming in July 2022 for the fifth chapter in July 2022. It is not known when production for Season 6 will begin.
