'The Mother' Scores Biggest Netflix Movie Opening Weekend of 2023 - Variety

Jennifer Lopez hits another high with her latest film: “The mother” will be Netflix’s biggest film premiere to date in 2023. The action thriller racked up 83.71 million hours viewed between May 8-14 and was #1 in 82 countries with nearly 43 million views (Netflix calculates views, by dividing the total number of hours viewed by the total run time, which is 1.96 hours). . The film premiered on duty on May 12.

On the TV side, “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” remained number one in the English TV chart with 158.68 million hours watched and has charted in the top 10 in 91 countries, bringing the show’s total views to 307 million hours. With its six episodes, the series has quickly racked up more than 47 million views (307 million hours viewed divided by 6.49 hours of runtime) since its May 4 release. Bridgerton Seasons 1 and 2 also re-entered the list with 23.88M hours viewed and 17.25M hours viewed, respectively.

Season 2 of Firefly Lane remains in the top five with 31.9 million hours watched. In its eighth week on the list, the series peaked at number two. The second part returned to the charts from April 24-30, after Netflix released the second half of the drama’s final season.

The season overtook Season 2 of Sweet Tooth, which landed in third place this week with 27.61 million hours watched. The fantasy series’ first season also stayed on the list, falling to 10th on the chart with 11.01 million hours watched.

“Queen Cleopatra” racked up 20.8 million hours watched when it debuted on May 10, pushing the series to seventh place on the list between political thrillers “The Night Agent” and “The Diplomat” (both series scored 20.34 each or 18.37 million hours viewed). ). In the second season of Jada Pinkett Smith’s “African Queens” series, the docudrama tells the complicated story of Queen Cleopatra and her notorious love life.

Elsewhere in the chart is Missing: Dead or Alive? with 23.95 million hours watched.
