Queen Charlotte’s reign is over. It’s not often that I write one Netflix “Dethroned” article for literal queen, but here we are. The Bridgerton prequel miniseries has finally been succeeded by a new series. other split from other Netflix success.

The new series at the top of Netflix’s top 10 list is XO, Kitty. It’s an interesting project, a TV spin-off of a Netflix series movies“To All The Boys I Loved Before” starring Lana Condor. There are three of these that aired from 2018 to 2021 and there don’t appear to be any plans for a fourth film at this time. Lana Condor has five other projects in the works, so it looks like she’s moving on for now.

So taking the reins is Lara (Lana) Jean’s little sister in the films, Kitty, played by Anna Cathcart. The new series consists of 10 30-minute episodes, which means that at 5 hours it is almost as long as the three To All The Boys films combined. XO, Kitty didn’t debut at #1, I think I saw it much further down the list to start with, but it seems to have caught on. The reviews for the show are better from critics than audiences (80% vs. 61%), but overall there just aren’t that many reviews. Nevertheless, things are going well. Since it’s not a miniseries, it’s likely that there will be a return for a second season.

The rest of the top 10 list is now…interesting. A documentary by Connor McGregor, McGregor Forever is now #3. The very old film SWAT is #4. Firefly Lane, which has now completed its final season, is #5 after being #1 before. “The Night Agent” still holds in the top 10, “Bridgerton” rose sharply due to the popularity of Queen Charlotte and is at number 10. Netflix has started announcing a new batch of renewals and cancellations. Ginny and Georgia were picked up two more seasons after we didn’t hear back after the second season in January. Not surprisingly, the teenage supernatural drama Lockwood & Co was canceled after one season.

Given the popularity of the To All The Boys movies, I bet XO Kitty will stay on top for a while. Even though Queen Charlotte was so popular, I bet she could reclaim the top spot if people leave Kitty early. We’ll have to wait and see.
