Actor Johnny Depp said at the Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of his film “Jeanne du Barry” that he had “no further need for Hollywood”.
The actor met after the premiere of his French film, directed by Maïwenn, in which Depp played King Louis XV. plays and speaks in French with the press to answer questions. Jeanne du Barry is Depp’s first film since 2020’s Minamata.
Most recently, Depp made headlines afterwards Sue his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard, for defamation. Heard claimed Depp abused her – an allegation Depp claimed affected his ability to find work. The jury sided broadly with the Pirates of the Caribbean star in this case, awarding him $10.35 million last June, while Heard was awarded $2 million in a counterclaim.

Heard supporters have questioned Depp’s performance at the film festival and launched the #CannesYouNot campaign on social media. However, the 59-year-old actor didn’t seem to care about the criticism or how he was perceived within the industry.
“I don’t feel boycotted by Hollywood because I don’t think about Hollywood,” Depp said. “It’s a weird, fun time when everyone would like to be themselves but can’t. He needs to get in tune with the person in front of him. If you want to live this life, I wish you all the best.”
Depp said he’s focused on promoting his new film and the acting process, adding that he’s not going anywhere.
“I’ve obviously had about 17 comebacks,” Depp said. “I keep wondering what the word ‘comeback’ means because I’m not going anywhere. In fact, I live about 45 minutes away.”
