Is The Little Mermaid (2023) live action on Netflix?

One of the biggest films, if not the biggest, hitting theaters in May is the new live-action film The little mermaid. Not only will it inspire nostalgia for anyone who loved the original animated version, but it also brings a much-needed portrayal of an incredibly popular character and story.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past three decades (yes, the cartoon version is that old), the story is about Ariel, a mermaid who longs to travel on land, have legs, and embark on an adventure outside of her normal experience Daily, day by day. When she saves a prince from drowning, she becomes even more determined to get to land.

Now she gets her chance when the sea witch Ursula grants her wish. But it comes at a price. She has to give up her voice. Ariel, determined to find Prince Eric and live where the people are, jumps at the chance. Little does she know that Ursula has some nasty tricks up her sleeves, including trying to steal her man from right under her new feet!

The new film also stars Halle Bailey as Ariel Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder, Daveed Diggs as the voice of Sebastian and Simone Ashley as Indira.

Is The Little Mermaid coming to Netflix?

unfortunately, The little mermaid won’t come to Netflix. It hits theaters on Friday, May 26, 2023 and will then air Disney+ thereafter. As a Disney film, that’s not really surprising. Since Disney has its own streaming service, there’s little chance its movies will appear on Netflix. But before it comes out on Disney+, it will be the only way to see it in cinemas.
