AMC Hired Executives Emma Miller and Carrie Gillogly Join Netflix - Deadline

Emma MillerSVP, script development and programming for AMC networks, has joined Netflix as Director, Overall Deals, Series (US and Canada) reporting to Nne Ebong, VP, Overall Deals, Series. Carrie GilloglySVP Scripted Programming for AMC Networks, also leaves to join Netflix as Director, Drama Series (US & Canada) reporting to Jinny Howe, VP, Drama Series.

Miller and Gillogly – both AMC veterans – have been named co-directors of AMC’s scripted series for 2020, reporting to Dan McDermott, president of AMC Entertainment and AMC Studios. After a reorganization, they most recently reported to Ben Davis, EVP, Scripted Programming at AMC Networks, who is the company’s chief scripted executive and continues to lead the group under McDermott.

The department that was worked on the Walking Dead Spin-offs, the Anne Rice universe, upcoming AMC shows like Parish, Monsieur Spade And Orphan Black: Echoes as well as the groundbreaking new drama from Apple TV+ Silo, continues to develop for AMC Networks and AMC Studios.

Like other media companies, AMC has cut costs. At the end of 2022, $475 million in costs were recorded for the removal of original content, including series that have not yet premiered, and for staff layoffs. In February, the company announced it would cut program spending by 20% this year.

Netflix also went through several rounds of cost cuts over the past year, including content cuts and layoffs.

“Emma and Carrie are talented leaders, great friends and trusted colleagues who have made significant contributions to our original programming group over many years,” AMC said in a statement. “We are their biggest fans and support them as they seek new opportunities.”

Miller had been with AMC for eight and a half years. She previously served as a creative executive at Amblin Television and Marti Noxon & Dawn Olmstead’s Grady Twins.

Gillogly had been with AMC for almost 11 years. Before that, she was head of development at Gerber Pictures.
